Quote for Blog - 081716Sorting out what voice we should listen to has always been a challenge for the followers of God. But as you renew your mind and learn to guard your heart you actually are able to benefit something from nearly everyone you hear.

From the beginning of time there have been men who claimed to know the right interpretation of God’s Word and, therefore, how it should be applied. Some of those people were “called” and some were self-appointed. But the problem was, they were not born again and they had never actually seen God for themselves. They had to make assumptions of what verses meant and how to apply them. Since many sincere people had their own opinions, different sects arose all claiming to have the right interpretation.

The Bible says, Jesus was the Word of God made flesh (John 1:14). Jesus was the living example of everything God had ever spoken. He was the only one who had ever seen God and, in fact, as part of the Trinity, He was God. What He taught, how He treated people and how He conducted His life was not based on assumption; it was the perfect and accurate representation of God and His Word (Hebrews 1:3).

When we read God’s Word or listen to a sermon the one thing we have to ask ourselves is, “Is this harmonious with what Jesus taught, how He lived and especially what He accomplished in His death, burial and resurrection?”
