In all new pursuits a good start ensures a great finish. In all new pursuits a good start ensures a great finish. Unfortunately, many believers didn’t get the start they needed; therefore, they struggle their entire life. If you didn’t get the foundation I’m about to share when you started your journey, you can get it now.

Give up all illusion that you are the same person you were before you came to Jesus. Your struggles and temptations come from the fact that your brain remembers what you used to do to get relief, i.e. pleasure, love and acceptance. But the more you renew your mind around your new identity, the less those old habits will haunt you.

Color-code all Scriptures in your Bible that use the terms in Him, in Christ, through Him, by Him, with Him,  etc. Write them adding the phrase, “In Him I am…” So a Scripture might read In Him I am the righteousness of God, In Him I am accepted or In Him I can do all things.  Read these Scriptures daily. If you don’t have time to do the research get The Prayer Organizer which already has hundreds of in Him Scriptures. As you read these Scriptures aloud to God bring your every capability to see, feel and experience yourself being that person. This is called “writing on your heart!”

If you’ve never been baptized in water, do so. When you are being plunged down into the water internally connect with the fact that the old you died and was buried with Christ. When you are raised up out of the water connect with the fact that you have been raised up in Christ as a new man sharing in all the inheritance Jesus received!

Among the other important things you can do is surround yourself with those who only see you as a new creation in Christ. When we are around those who knew us in our old identity we tend to put that old identity back on and fall into those same patterns.
