Much of our confusion about God is because we either do not know the foundations of faith or because we accept doctrines that are inconsistent with the foundational doctrines.

The writer of Hebrews explained that we need to move beyond the foundations of the faith in order to grasp the more significant things of God. But, he said, we continue to rightly relate to those foundational truths as we move forward. In the original language the phrase in Hebrews  6:1, “not laying again,” has two very significant meanings. In order to move forward I can’t keep repeating the teaching about the foundational doctrines. But it also means as we move forward we can forget or cast away the foundational doctrines.
