quote-for-blog-100716Jesus gave us a profound insight into repetitive patterns when He said, whatever you have, more will be given. We keep getting more of what we have because of the beliefs of our heart. All of life’s issues flow from our heart.

We tend to think it is beliefs about specific issues that determine what happens in that area. For example, one would think that it is only our beliefs about money that affect our ability to prosper, or our beliefs about relationships that determine our happiness in marriage. This type of compartmentalizing our faith has brought an incredible amount of failed expectations.

The undergirding foundation of our faith is self-worth. How do you see yourself? Do you feel worthy of the promises of God, of a happy life or anything you pursue? Self-worth is intimately connected to our sense of worthiness. No matter how right on your beliefs about happiness, you will never be consistently happy if you don’t feel worthy of happiness. Even if you are absolute about God’s promise to prosper; if you don’t feel worthy of prosperity it will either never become a reality or you will sabotage it when it happens.

Religion would say, “You’re not worthy!” But the Bible would say, you are in Christ and He is worthy. Religion would say, “You have sin in your life.” The Bible would say, Jesus doesn’t have sin. It is His inheritance; He shares it with me. Religion would say, “You’re not qualified.” The Bible would say, Christ has qualified us.
