board-928386_640The word “dominion” used in Genesis means “to subjugate or rule” and the word “authority” means “the right and the power of choice.” God gave the dominion, the right to rule and the power of choice to humans. From the time man was brought forth on Planet Earth he/she has made the decisions that determine the course of the earth.

In some circles believers sought to demonstrate authority by screaming and sounding forceful when they commanded something to happen. The outward expression revealed insecurity instead of faith and authority. All of the forceful screaming was just a weak imposter of true confidence.

The first man didn’t exercise authority through force; it emerged from his sense of personal identity. He knew who he was in relation to his Creator. Psalm 8:5 tells us God bestowed glory and honor upon him. Glory and honor are incredibly rich words which, among many other things, indicate dignity and worth. By virtue of his sonship man knew his position in Planet Earth. Verse 6 goes on to reveal that man‘s authority was directly proportionate to his sense of dignity and worth!

The capacity to feel the right to make authoritative decisions is directly connected to our sense of dignity and worth. All of life’s limitations are rooted in our self-worth. In the absence of self-worth there is only worthlessness. When we feel worthless, i.e. unworthy, we will not make confident choices; instead, we will allow others to make our decisions. Join me this week in CyberChurch to discover the secret to The Matrix of Life: dignity and worth!

making decisions CDFor centuries religion, as opposed to relationship, has thrived in the Church holding men in fear, guilt and unworthiness. We have been told to have faith and use our authority while we were stripped of the one thing that makes that possible: glory and honor, i.e. dignity and worth!
