Like so many of our misdirected beliefs, the misunderstanding lies in our corrupt definitions. We forget that among God’s commandments was that we should all be good readers. Over and over again He told us to read His Word and hide it in our heart. A significant aspect of reading is understanding the meaning of words!
“Glory” is an inclusive word with an expansive meaning! The concept we all understand is the greatness, the splendor, majesty, brightness and all of those words that magnify God. But God’s glory also includes His truth, His Word, everything He has ever said and finally it includes the reality that exists for those who surrender their own opinion for His opinion.
Let the weak say they are strong is what a believer does when they accept God’s reality above their subjective experience. We know there is a need for a constant exchange between us and God: we exchange what we are experiencing, the reality that is dominating our lives, that all of our five senses confirm for something that exists and can only be perceived by the eyes of the heart. It exists just beyond our subjective reality!
Every time I accept my subjective reality instead of God’s reality I am exalting my own glory: my opinion and my experience. Every time I believe sin and compromise will give me a better outcome than God’s Word I am exalting my glory above His. Every time I settle for what I have instead of what God has for me I am choosing my glory over His glory!
