Sadly, we have been taught that forgiveness means we must maintain a relationship with those who hurt us. Not true! In fact, the opposite is more true! One of the most important aspects of guarding our heart is being wise about those with whom we socialize.
Love means we still treat people in a way that conveys God’s love and value for them. We don’t compromise our character because of their lack of character. The Bible warns of the many dangers of unwise friendships. When we socialize with those who are hurtful, it wounds our heart and causes damage that could affect us for a life time.
