In Matthew 18:3-4 Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus is telling us how we can enter the realm of God’s kingdom, the realm that supersedes the laws of the world.

There are realms of God that we don’t understand yet. In that realm we have the opportunity to operate under the laws of God. In order to operate this way, we have to become like a little child. Not act, like a child, but become as a child. Children have less information, and more imagination. Children trust. When we were children, everything was easy. This is the realm that God is calling us to.

When we came to God at first, we came to him as little children. We stood in awe of God. We looked at life like everything was possible! And then we get to a place where we know more about God, we have more information, but we’ve lost what we had when we just stood in awe of God and when we just trusted.

The Bible says in Proverbs 13:12, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.” When we started this journey we had hopes. Maybe we made mistakes that pushed our hopes farther down the road. Sometimes people will try to convince us that God won’t allow us to live our dreams. As we experience disappointment we reduce our image of God to the scope of what keeps us feeling safe.

Remember the days when you didn’t know much about God and it just didn’t matter? We were just so overwhelmed that this loving God loved us and washed away all of our past and gave us our salvation. We could imagine great things as long as God was beside us. We imagined life beyond anything we could have ever dreamed before. It’s time that we rediscover our imagination!
