As you know, this annual event is also a way of saying “Thank-You” to all of you who help us change the way the world sees God through your contribution of finances, prayer and time! But it is more than a thank-you; it is an investment back into your life. This investment in your life is then multiplied into the lives of your family, your friends and your circle of influence. So, on a greater scale, this weekend is an investment in the Kingdom of God.
This weekend we are talking about my favorite and, I think, one of the most important truths in the Bible: Reconnecting to Our First Love. Everyone struggles from time to time with their heart becoming cold, dull, or disinterested in this intimate relationship with God. Or sometimes we simply get into a stuck state where we want our relationship to thrive but we can’t seem to get past where we are right now! The cares of life, weeds that spring up in the garden of our heart, or the disappointments and hurts we experience from people can all affect our love life with God because of the way they affect our hearts.
Among the many reasons God led me to the topic this year is its importance for the days wherein we live. “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24:12). Unless we understand the sources and the influence of iniquity on our hearts we could find ourselves withdrawing from God, family, friends, and even society in fear of emotional loss and pain. For the last thirty years God has consistently said to me, “People have to know that I love them; but unless that leads to loving Me it doesn’t benefit their lives.”
I want to help you make this journey of falling in love with and staying in love with the One Who loves you unconditionally. Plus, you will be equipped and empowered to face and overcome any challenges that lie ahead. When the world is in retreat we will still be introducing others to and experiencing the unconditional love of God.
