Few people choose to depart from God and even fewer realize that departing from God’s Word as modeled, taught and empowered by Jesus is a departure from God. Jesus is the Word made flesh, the exact representation of God.
For many believers entering darkness begins with the desire for something that is contrary to God’s definition of love, (His Commandments) i.e. some act of selfishness. Since sin hardens (blinds) the heart the believer who continues in it is alienating themselves from God in their heart. At some point they will either deal with the problem or start twisting or rejecting God’s Word for self-justification. Fortunately, there is no place beyond the love, mercy and grace of God!
God says, I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. And not forsake them ( Isaiah 42:16). When we turn wholeheartedly to God and His truth we are returning to the light, i.e. the place where we can see things as they really are.
The Apostle John taught that communion (intimate involvement with Jesus) restores us to the light and in this fellowship the blood of Jesus will cleanse our conscience. When that happens we are in the light… we can see clearly!
Wrap yourself around Jesus, surrender and enter into His death, burial and resurrection. Choose to follow Him as Lord. Allow His life, teaching, death, burial and resurrection to be your only interpretation and model for the application of God’s Word. Your life will become better than you ever imagined.
