Jesus made a profound statement, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. "(Matt 6:33) In this statement He set a priority that few Christians ever grasp.
Obeying God in priority can determine if we are really obeying God at all. It was this very thing He was addressing when He said, "You're hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You keep meticulous account books, tithing on every nickel and dime you get, but on the meat of God's Law, things like fairness and compassion and commitment — the absolute basics! — you carelessly take it or leave it. Careful bookkeeping is commendable, but the basics are required. 24 Do you have any idea how silly you look, writing a life story that's wrong from start to finish, nitpicking over commas and semicolons?" (Matt 23-23-24, TMB) Everything in God’s Word is important but we can’t pick and choose; we can’t rearrange priority.

The Kingdom is where God’s purposes become our purposes. Righteousness is the place where our life starts working! One can’t be sought in place of the other. Seek them both. In fact, it is impossible to experience certain levels of personal growth apart from our service to mankind. Paul echoed these sentiments in Philemon 1:6," I pray that you will be active in sharing your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing in you in Christ!" We must be fully committed to God’s purposes in Earth and His purposes in us!

When we live our lives in priority “things” that the people of the world seek are added to us; we don’t even have to seek them. They just come to us! The serendipitous blessings of God far outweigh that for which most believers consume their faith trying to get!
