IISOM Approach to Training

Through the School of Ministry, we offer one of the most unique opportunities for training anywhere in the country. Students who complete our training are ready to begin full-time ministry or vocation, confident in the principles of faith and success that will promote victory in their life and the lives of others. These unique programs utilize three different approaches to training:

I. VERSE-BY-VERSE
A solid foundation in the Word of God is the best preparation for success. Twenty-nine books of the Bible are studied verse-by-verse, with extensive references to the original languages. This is not a doctrinal study, but a teaching format that allows the Bible to speak for itself.

II. TOPICAL TRAINING
Through a systematic examination of the important topics and doctrines of the Scriptures, the student can acquire an in-depth understanding of Faith, the Holy Spirit, Family Relations, Evangelism, Counseling, Substance Abuse, and many other topics. In addition to Bible topics, instruction is offered in Communications, Practical Christianity, Successful Living, Administration and many other topics that will help prepare you to meet the challenges of life and ministry victoriously.

III. RELEVANT MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT
The twentieth century leader must be equipped to minister to the needs that are predominant in society. The Department of Relevant Ministry provides a unique, cutting edge for ministerial preparation. The coursework for Relevant Ministry focuses on areas of ministry that are particularly relevant to the needs of today’s society. It has a special focus on dealing with emotional and social dysfunction as manifested through trends of extreme codependency, substance abuse and sexual abuse.

The Department of Relevant Ministry provides special training that equips the leader to reach and minister to the needs of the community. It focuses on principles and methods that are currently working.

During the entire course of your degree/certificate program you will be given the opportunity to apply these methods and principles through practical ministry application. You will have opportunity to participate in one-on-one Evangelism, Drama, Youth Evangelism, Adolescent Prevention and Intervention, Adult Detox and other meaningful areas of ministry.

First year students are involved in a variety of programs that provide a broad base of knowledge and experience. All second year students will choose a ministerial minor such as Pastoral Care, Counseling, Detox Training, Children’s Ministry, Youth and Teens, Administrative, etc. All Helps Ministry and Student Ministry for the second year will be done in the chosen area of ministry, under the supervision of a department head at Impact of Huntsville. On occasion, a first year student may apply for and be accepted in this program.
